How are my child's reading skills?

Below is an explanation of the TESD Benchmark Schedule above (green box) which is posted on each TESD elementary school website.  Our goal is to help you better understand what skills the benchmarks measure.

What do reading benchmarks measure?

This the full DIBELs benchmark protocol; TESD administers a portion of these.  You can determine if your student is meeting the benchmark by following looking at the grade level, time of year and measurement.

Is my child catching up?

If your student is in general education Reading Support or in Special Education with direct instruction in reading, you want to know their progress.  You can ask for this data and compare the child to their peers on these norm-referenced assessments.
