"When you’re talking about curriculum choice and teachers choosing the curriculum, that process … the biggest recommendation was to immerse the teachers in the science of reading. ... But in our district, we have ability to serve all kids, even kids in reading support right now who would not be in reading support if our teachers were using that methodology and understood it. And we have the ability to do that."
Our "number one priority is to get that information, not to the nation, but to their children’s classroom teachers: “We have fabulous teachers in T/E. Our teachers don’t yet have access to the science of reading and data that clearly shows the benefits of structured literacy."
